Other items include metal scissors that have pointed tips, axes, ice picks, razor type blades except safety razors, swords, etc. When in doubt, you can always check with the airline.
Aside from what to pack and what not to pack, you should verify as to the allowable carry-on size your airline allows. While weight can be a factor, certain airlines don’t have any restrictions when it comes to the carry-on luggage weight but then impose restrictions when it comes to the size. You are basically allowed one carry-on luggage and one personal item (purse, laptop bag or a smaller carry-on bag not bigger than 36 inches). Carry-on luggage dimensions may vary from airline to airline but there is a standard of 22″x14″x9″ equal to 45″.
